The #Black Lives Matter movement has gone global. The call
for justice in the United States is being echoed in far corners of the world.
For the purpose of this journal, I will be focusing on the development of the
movement and other facets of race relations surrounding university protests in
South Africa. I will explore what the movement is seeking to accomplish and the
ways in which it is successful or not. Ultimately, I will be exploring what
this movement says about the legacy of apartheid in contemporary South Africa.
